Hey there
I'm fully invested in keeping up with the AI Joneses and even I am having trouble tracking all of these new models. In the past week we've gotten updated models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and xAI. I've included each as updates in this newsletter, but I think I'll combine them into a single bullet in the future before this becomes "Your New Model, Sir/Madam".
I'm determined to include an original featured article of my own in next week's issue, so that'll be a focus of mine for this week! It should give a glimpse into how I am currently using AI and hopefully get some momentum going on future blogs.
This week's read
I really like this featured article. Just because you are using AI, doesn't mean you need to produce AI slop. You can still weave in some taste. It takes less than 5 additional minutes to make something worth making with AI.

What the robots are up to
The week's AI updates a person can put to use.
Introducing Grok 4.7 | SpaceXAI, Introducing Claude Opus 5.5 \ Anthropic, and GPT-6 Sol and Luna
As mentioned at the start, another gaggle of models has been released into the wild. As usual, they have similar pros and cons. Grok for cost, Claude for some things and ChatGPT for others. I'm typically partial to Anthropic models (perhaps because they are just what I'm used to using), but Opus 5.5 does seem like incredible bang for the buck. Additionally, it is really great at following specific instructions reliably, which is making it my go-to on my automation processes.
AI in the wild
Real stories of AI being put to use. Honest about what worked and what didn't.
GPT-6 Astra Solves a WWI German Radio Cipher
This is a fun one. GPT-6 Astra decoded a German radio message from November 27, 1918, one of more than a dozen still unsolved on a well-known list of ciphers. Spoiler alert: the message was "AN ENGLISH CRUISER ARRIVED AT SEVASTOPOL ON THE ?4TH AN ALLIED SQUADRON FOLLOWS ON THE 26TH".
I built my own Monarch-style finance dashboard with Opus 5.5 for less than $20
I like any inspiration for helping folks keep their finances private. I've started working on something similar to this one and love the idea of using Monarch as an inspiration.
In the toolkit
My newsletter focuses on tools and use cases. mysetup.ai complements it well by allowing people to show their AI setup. Browse and search setups from the Community page. To share your own, sign in with GitHub, Google or X. Your AI assistant prepares a private draft, and nothing goes public until you review and publish it.
Your Turn, Human
This week treat yourself to a new device and just do something fun. That's what life is all about anyways. I just bought an LED Matrix, so I can create some fun images as part of my children's daily routine. Why? Because it'll bring some smiles into our house.
Tried something that worked, or think I got this one wrong? Get in touch.
